Rooted in Gratitude {Week 1 CSA}

Thank you for being a part of something exceedingly rare and undeniably needed.

The "local food movement" is rising in popularity after some important shifts in consumer behavior since the pandemic, which is a wonderful trend to witness. It seems that more people than ever are aware of the benefits of having an established foodshed in our local area. Despite the convenient options of having food grown anywhere in any manner brought right to your doorstep, we're witnessing more interest in locally grown food than we have in our entire history as a farm or in the time we've been running the Riverside Farmers Market.

It's encouraging and motivating, and we could likely dedicate our entire season to trying to decode the motives behind these shifting trends (amidst a declining economy, no less). Without diving into that nuanced rabbit hole, we're satisfied in believing that it's mostly the effect of more people realizing the delicacy of a food system that is inherently disconnected, politically vulnerable, and ecologically doomed.

As we all witness the unraveling of entire ecosystems and the alarming decline of biodiversity, a sense of urgency and helplessness can easily engulf us. But the power of a few focused intentions in a sea of conflicting perspectives should not be underestimated. Amidst the chaos, we can find solace in small acts of stewardship and in the collective resilience of those who refuse to surrender.

Like seeds pushing through concrete, rivers patiently carving their paths, and birds singing before the sun has even risen, every choice we make counts for something. By nurturing hope within ourselves and connecting with others who share this vision, we can forge a path forward, treading lightly and nurturing the seeds of a regenerative future.

We know, our CSA members are the literal choir, but how can we not reiterate how cool we think you are? We truly wouldn't be able to farm the way we do without our CSA Program. Your choice to support our farm with your pre-order of an entire season of vegetables enabled us to purchase the seeds, pay for the labor, and blanket our farm in rich compost for the season you are about to bite into!

So, we welcome you to our 7th CSA Season and express our heartfelt appreciation for choosing our small organic farm as your source of nourishment. It's a humbling feeling to know that amidst the sea of choices, you opted to support a local, teeny tiny family farm growing food in an exceedingly rare fashion.

By supporting our farm, you are not only investing in the health and well-being of your own family but also in the larger movement towards a more resilient and regenerative food system. Your decision to prioritize organic, locally grown produce sends a powerful message—one that values the care we put into our land, the passion we pour into our crops, and the sustainable practices we uphold.

So, from the bottom of our hearts, thank you for being part of our CSA family, for believing in the power of mindful consumption, and for nourishing a future that we can all be proud of.

Together, we are making a difference, one delicious bite at a time.

Our Curly Kale has been larger this year than we've ever seen! It's in no small part due to the MASSIVE amounts of organic compost we've been blanketing across our farm, and we hope you relish the kale bounty this week!
